How we measureThe Index measures nighttime culture across six dimensions. Each dimension asks one question of every city, from how creative work is supported to what the night does for the environment.
Each dimension is built from two to eight indicators, 30 in all, and is scored from 0 to 100. Go through the dimensions to see what they measure, why it matters and how each city scores.

Sustainability & Environment
How are venues, events and festivals reducing their environmental footprint, and with what support? Are festivals using their platforms to change behaviour?
Why it matters
Nighttime culture takes place on land that everyone in a city shares. Caring for land - and the planet - is a collective responsibility that belongs to venues, festivals, audiences and cities together, so the Index counts it as part of a city’s health at night.
